How to Play
- When the page first loads, the cursor will be blinking in the in the long white box on the game board. This is where you type all your commands, word guesses, and your chatting.
- It's polite to type rd before each game starts. It means "ready." Do it between rounds (during the chat portion of the game) to let everyone know when you're ready.
- To start the game, type: /go It's polite to type 3 2 1 first, entering each number separately, to let everyone know a game is about to begin. Please do not jump start the games, and please give everyone a chance to say "good job" and "thank you" before starting.
- When the grid comes on you have 90 seconds in which to make as many words as you can from the letters in the grid. The longer the word, the higher your score. The letters may be used as many times as they are in the grid. For example, these are some words that can be formed from this grid:
B T L S
E P A N
T R G R
Z L M Prangers
ranger
belt
belts
pants
rattles
rattle - To enter the words, you just type the words one at a time and hit enter after each word. Do not use commas or periods, or the words will not enter. The letters DO NOT have to be touching, as they do in Boggle.
- If it accepts your word, you will not see anything happen. If it does not accept your word, it will either tell you that it is not a word or that the word you typed cannot be made from the letters in the grid. If you type the same word as someone else, it will show as being accepted, but only the person who typed it first receives credit for the word.
- If you want to see the words you and everyone else typed after the round is over, you can type w (no slash) and then the enter key.
- The abbreviations we use while chatting after a game are:
wtg = way to go
gg = good going
gw = good word
tq or ty = thank you
thx or tx = thanks
vn = very nice
vg = very good - Sometimes you can't see words in the grid. It may be helpful if they were scrambled in a different order. If you want to rescramble the letters, which REALLY helps in finding new words, type a period (or fullstop if you're British) by itself and enter it.
- The scoreboard will look like this:
Bongo : 1634 (TURQUOISE for 90 points!)
SunKing : 902 (SQUAREST for 55 points!)
Margie : 863 (*TURQUOISES for 140 points!)
DiamondBrad : 368 (PEACHIEST for 55 points!)The first number you see is the "total score" for the round. The word that's showing is each person's longest word of 6 letters or more. The second score you see, the one next to the word, is the score for that one word, excluding the bonus points. The bonuses are added into the "total score." The asterisk goes next to the person who typed the biggest word. If someone else had typed a word the same length as "turquoises," the one who typed it first would get the word. The scoring and bonus system topic is the next topic.
- It's really not as complicated as it looks at first. My-six-year old plays....when I can bring myself to take a break... :) So lastly, have fun scrambling! - Barbidoll
